A New Era Begins (On Many Levels)

The One Voice Conference USA concluded this past Sunday, and it felt like the turning of many pages at once in the voiceover industry.

Like comets in the night sky, shooting stars Rebecca Lee and Matthew Parham claimed Female and Male Voice Actor of the Year awards at the One Voice Awards, heralding a changing of the guard to a new generation of industry stars claiming leadership roles and modeling careers for aspiring talent. With incredible skill sets and character, these two elite, constantly booking voiceover artists brought down the house with speeches celebrating the inclusivity and love of our industry.

OVC USA 2026 also was a gathering that truly felt emblematic of our community. A coming together. No backbiting, just uplifting. No competition, just collaboration. Everyone on the same level, meeting each other where we are at. No drama. No controversy. And maybe the first post-AI-scare conference, where those who are doing the thing every day modeled what successful careers look like in 2026 and beyond.

We saw rising agency powerhouses represented and representing, blown away by the level of talent on the ground. Legendary casting directors appearing at their first in-person event. Me blowing off black tie for a bolo tie, a cowboy hat, and a capybara tee-shirt and jeans. 212 years of capy ranching. Biggest capy farm in Texas, but I digress.

And a turning of the page from the warm 110-degree embrace of Dallas to a 2027 reset in Los Angeles, which has been without a true conference since Penny Abshire & James Alburger discontinued VOICE in 2014, and hasn’t had a large-scale educational gathering on the ground in two years.

Now, OVC will gather hundreds of talent, agents, CD’s, industry leaders, buyers, and more in LA in August of 2027, and bring the industry’s signature awards program with it, with no cost to enter and no cost to win.

The positivity of OVC USA 2026 will be hard to match. It felt like the industry gathered to say that all of the disruption of the pandemic and AI fear eras was finally at an end, and that we are collectively moving forward as human talent with work to do and a statement to make.

Dallas, you have been so kind to us throughout the years and such a wonderful host. I’ll miss the venue and the locals if they don’t join us in LA. The DFW community was a huge part of making the event a success. Thank you.
